I am a mother pheasant plucker

I'm all for a cease fire, and for peace in the middle east and all that Jazz. I really am. I am not going go all Political here - mostly because I don't have access to the sources I want to reference, and I can't put out any info without the proper sources to back said info up.

Thing is, and this is the part that is really fucking my shit up, in all the talks for a cease fire, and all the war protests I've read about in the papers, why is no one even talking about the release of the kidnapped Israeli soldiers that blew up this powederkeg?

And what ever happened to that kid (yes I know he is a soldier, but I don't think he's even 20 yet) who was kidnapped in Israel and is being held in Gaza?

What the fuck is wrong with the world?

But good. There is now a cease fire. But what's the next step?

I don't follow the news much. That's horrible, I know. It just depresses me is all, so I avoid most of it. Of course I know some of what's going on in the middle east, but frankly the whole thing scares the shit out of me and I'm trying to be in denial.

I did see on my Yahoo homepage that Iran has started some kind of holocaust cartoon contest, which just sounds absolutely horrible to me.

Didn't you say you lived in Israel Amichai? Doesn't that freak you out that this is going on?

The world is a moron.

BTW I can't stop blogging while on Vacation. I'm an addict. Any news on your trip to Winnipeg?

Im happy that you blogged about this actually, because I was wondering the same things...

I wish that I knew what was wrong with the world...i asked that very question just today. Although, admittedly, I am happy to see that the terror alert has been reduced to just Bert and Ernie, from Elmo.

Nonny- I don't read as much about the situation as I should, but only because I never have the time to sit down and just read the paper in its entirty. Something I would like to do, and have no idea how anyone can read the times (all of the Times) over breakfast. Must be one hell of a long breakfast. And Iran scares me. It has for a very long time. Though there is this really great graphic novel called Peresopolis, which is a memior of a young girl growing up in Iran during the Shah's revolution. It's really good. You should check it out.

Rawbean- I did live in Israel for a short time in High School back in 1995
when all my freinds were still joking around about the times they had to wear gas masks and hit the bomb shelters due to the scud missles Saddam was sending there way. I know some kids in the Army over there right now, and one of my older freinds (well my age at least) who finished his required service a few years ago just got a letter (a few weeks ago) informing him not to leave the country as he might be called back to active duty soon. It's freaking me out to be honest.

PP- Elmo just annoys me, and frankly, I'm happy to see that he has been dropped (for the moment) from the terror alert.

Ben- Well, then I'm happy to use this blog to educate you.

*giggle* Amichai cursed. A lot. *chuckle* Okay, okay, now that I'm done razzing you, you have wise words. I believe much of the "truth" is censored by the media, here in the good ol' USA. Not the extent that other countries are, but I do believe many things get swept under the rug and a lot of gag-orderish demands are placed on many members of the press. I love CNN and BBCAmerica because they tend to go a little further indepth than other major news channels. As for the New York Times; I can't get past the front page, usually.

I don't really like the BBC. They skew very leftist in their reporting. I'm pretty left, and even I can pick up on the bias. Though i never really check out BBC America, just the BBC world broadcast on NPR.
